As Obon approaches, I feel like the sunrises are getting later and the sunsets are getting earlier.
Usually in July there is a lot of rain and it is not possible to dry umeboshi, but this year, unusually, we were able to dry them during the dog days of summer.
The plums in the barrel are spread out over a mat and exposed to the sun.

Each plum was turned over each morning, and after being exposed to the sun for three days, it turned a beautiful pale pink and turned into white pickled plums with a rich, sticky flavor.
The red shiso harvest went smoothly, and we were able to add 3 kg of salted shiso to the barrels that hold about 30 kg of pickled plums. We plan to leave this for another 2 weeks or so before drying.

The heat is unrelenting during the day! It feels dangerous to go outside, so we start moving as soon as the sun rises, and conserve energy by taking naps and doing office work in the early afternoon, when it's the hottest. We resume farm work around 4pm, and keep moving as much as we can while the sun is out.

However, before Obon, there is a little more time to spare for farm work, so I finished up the work early and went to the festival in Nirasaki City with my family.

Parents and children dressed in yukata and headed out into the city at night. We ate takoyaki, yakitori, and kebabs at food stalls, and munched on chilled pineapple. The Nunoi family usually avoids junk food, but at festivals, we let loose!
My daughter has grown up and is finally able to go out at night! I feel that way. Until now, I've avoided going out at night, especially to crowded places, because she goes to bed early and I was worried about changing her diapers.
That's right, this month my daughter finally graduated from diapers!
My husband and I have been practicing a parenting method called "diaper-free parenting," but it has been a journey with many ups and downs.
For about a year after birth, we used cloth diapers exclusively. Dad did his best to wash them every day.
As he grew, the amount of urine he produced increased and cloth diapers could no longer contain it, so we gradually started using disposable diapers more often (he wanted to focus on playing and had entered a reluctant phase where he didn't want to have his cloth diapers changed, so he preferred disposable diapers...), but we continued to toilet train him by calling out to him to go to the toilet and clearly praising him when he was successful.
For a while, he started to take the initiative and go to the toilet more often, and I thought maybe he was out of diapers! But then he found it easier to use disposable diapers, so he went back to using them.
However, one day, my daughter developed a high fever and was bedridden. As soon as the fever subsided,
Amazingly, he was able to go to the toilet 100% of the time.
I've heard that "children upgrade when they get a high fever," but when I think about it, it seems that fever isn't the only trigger.
Just before she developed a high fever, she attended the Nature Preschool Forest Nursery for the first time. She seemed lonely at first being separated from her mother, but thanks to the staff, she was able to change her mood and enjoy her time there. My daughter is the oldest of the children, and seeing the other children having their diapers changed by adults may have given her a sense of being a big sister, making her think, "I can use the toilet by myself!"
Also, it's possible that the baby's urine holding capacity has increased as he has grown.
Once my mind and body were ready, and I went through the detox and refresh phase of high fever, I was able to graduate successfully.
However, this may also depend on the personality of the child.
According to Alegria's numerology reading, her daughter has the number of "motherhood" and was born with the role of taking care of those around her. Perhaps she is driven by the number of reliable people.
Knowing your child's numerology may help them make the next step, but staying close to your child and steadily continuing toilet training without giving up may be the quickest way, even though it may seem like a long process.
