Hakushu TAMAiGO Chicken Farm
We include eggs in our Vegetables + Egg Set.
TAMAiGO Chicken Farm is located in the expansive rural area of Yokote, Hakushu Town, at the foot of Mount Kaikomagatake.
The farm's approximately 850 chickens are all pure Japanese breeds: Azusa, Momiji, and Okazaki Ohhan.
The chickens live freely and comfortably in a sunlit free-range coop, scratching the ground, taking dust baths, and flying around the room.
We use a carefully crafted, homemade feed blend
⚫ We mix 12 types of feed, including rice, soybeans, and seaweed, daily according to the season and growth stage.
⚫ Non-GMO
⚫ Post-harvest chemical-free
⚫ No additives: antibiotics, oils, colorants, etc.
⚫ Water sourced from natural underground springs
We prioritize the basics, striving to ensure our chickens live a slow, unhurried life.
OKOME CRAFT
I grow rice without pesticides. My name is Atsuki, the owner.
Our motto is: ‘A RICE STYLE that fits your LIFE STYLE.’
We run experiential programs, workshops, and rice sales.
We are deeply indebted to the Ame-Tsuchi-Hito couple, our senior mentors in agriculture and rural living.
The varieties we cultivate are Sasashigure and Koshihikari.
We received these seeds after years of careful preservation and propagation by previous growers.
Grown in Hakushu's rich nature and famed waters, then slowly sun-dried under autumn sun and breezes, our rice achieves a plump, delicious finish. We live each day looking forward to eating the new harvest in our traditional kamado stove come autumn.
Sasashigure is the parent variety of Sasanishiki, known for its light flavor and gentle sweetness. It remains delicious even when cold, earning it the nickname “Lady of Rice.”
Koshihikari is the well-known staple variety. It has a slightly chewy texture and sweetness, beloved by many.
