Last week I went back home for my brother's wedding!
The venue was Yokohama. It was my daughter's first time riding a train and in a city, so I was excited.

At the wedding, my daughter and her cousin were entrusted with the important role of ring girls (girls who deliver the rings to the bride and groom), and they performed the role successfully. Contrary to our expectations, my daughter walked down the aisle with confidence, looking straight ahead. Both my parents were moved to tears by her sight. We are grateful to my brother for giving us such a precious opportunity.

My younger brother started working as a strawberry farmer in Tochigi this year. He made his first shipment the other day and got off to a good start. It looks like we'll be competing with each other as farmers.
Of course, the wedding was filled with strawberries!

With the end of the year fast approaching, the vegetables in the fields are rapidly freezing, so we are busy harvesting and storing them in preparation for winter.
After harvesting, the turnips are washed thoroughly and left to dry under the cold for about a week before being pickled. This removes excess moisture and promotes smooth lactic acid fermentation. The bright red red turnips and vibrant Hinona turnips remain beautiful to look at and have a rich aroma while being washed, making them feel like a luxury only available at this time of year. Even in December, when the fields lose their color, pickling still beautifully decorates the dinner table, which I believe is a wonderful wisdom left behind by people of the past. I would like to cherish and preserve the culture of pickling, which was once a common practice in homes.
It is scheduled to be pickled on Saturday, December 21st.

The other day, I went to Nitadaira Marche, a lovely cafe in Sudama, Hokuto City.
We set up a stall at the Christmas market held at https://www.facebook.com/nitadairamarche/?locale=ja_JP. This time we set up a stall with handmade wreaths. The wreaths, made with an abundance of materials collected from forests and fields, will brighten up any room with their natural colors. All of the wreaths we made have been safely sent to their destinations. Thank you very much.
