In recent years, shimenawa decorations made from rice straw have become mainstream.
It is said that it was originally made from Makomo grass.
Makomo has a long history, and it is said that gods can walk on it.
It is said that each household made and decorated shimenawa ropes to invite the gods into their homes in the new year. The shimenawa ropes at Izumo Taisha Shrine, where the eight million gods are said to gather, are still made from Makomo grass.

We use our hands and feet to weave the Makomo that we cultivated in our rice fields into ropes.
The decorations are colorfully decorated with ears of ancient red, black, and green rice, as well as pine and cypress, which are believed to ward off evil spirits. A simple shimenawa decoration that is simple yet timeless, and suits both Japanese and Western styles.

*As these are handmade products made from natural materials, there may be slight individual differences in size and shape. Also, depending on the harvest time of Makomo, the color may be bluish or close to golden. Size: Diameter of the ring: approx. 20 cm Price: 4,720 yen per piece
